Description
The Pension Board was established in 1919 by General Assembly of the State of Georgia to administer the City of Savannah Employee Retirements Plan. It is the duty of this board to pass on all applications from employees and former employees of the City of Savannah, who may be injured, permanently disabled or incapacitated by old age or sickness, for pensions from the City of Savannah, to recommend such employees and former employees to the Mayor and Alderman.
Membership/Appointment:
Eight (8) members, including one member of City Council and two residents appointed by City Council; also serving are the City Manager, the City’s Chief Financial Officer, and three employee-elected representatives.
Term:
Overlapping four (4) year terms.
