Title 24. Motion to Authorize the City Manager to Execute a Sole Source Contract with Trane, Inc. for a Chiller Controller at the Civic Center in the Amount of $27,792 (Event No. 7566)
Strategic Priority Infrastructure
Description Recommend approval to procure a chiller controller for the Civic Center from Trane, Inc. in the amount of $27,792. This request is based on consultation with Sebring Engineering on methodologies to maintain the Civic Center’s physical plant through the projected lifespan of the facility at a minimum cost. The chiller controllers currently in place are obsolete. A failure to the chiller controller would necessitate this expenditure on an emergency basis. Performing this action proactively as preventative maintenance lessens the possibility of unexpected chiller failure which could force the facility to close to the public for an unknown period of time. This project is part of a planned initiative to mitigate the possibility of catastrophic failure of the Civic Center’s physical plant components over the facility’s expected 36-48 month life cycle. This particular project is a sole source bid because it is proprietary Trane, Inc. equipment and must be designed and installed by Trane, Inc. to ensure system compatibility.
