Strategic Priority Good Government
Description On September 24, 2021, staff submitted a grant application to the Federal Aviation Administration to request funding under the Airport Rescue Grant Program. The purpose of this grant is to prevent, prepare for and respond to the coronavirus pandemic. Funds provided must only be used for purposes directly related to the airport. These purposes can include the reimbursement of an airport’s operational and maintenance expenses or debt service payments. New airport development projects not directly related to combating the spread of pathogens and approved by the FAA for such purposes may not be funded with this grant. Funds provided under the Grant will be governed by the same principles that govern “airport revenue”. The grant was awarded on November 8, 2021, and has been signed by Chairman Green, City of Savannah Manager Melder, and Commission Attorney Stillwell.
