Recommend approval to renew an annual contract for transport truckloads of gasoline and diesel fuel from Sommers Oil Company in the amount of $4,851,643.39 and for tank wagon loads of gasoline and diesel fuel from Barrett Oil Distributors in the amount of $746,044.00. This contract will allow Vehicle Maintenance to procure transport truckloads of fuel for the three fueling locations (City Lot, Sallie Mood and Police Headquarters) that will be utilized by various City departments to fuel vehicles, mowers, and small equipment used daily for operations. In addition, various City departments may procure tank wagon loads of fuel to supply equipment at fixed locations (i.e. bulldozers, generators, and excavators).

The contract is the last of four renewal options available that were the result of a cooperative bid solicited by Chatham County in 2013. While Barrett Oil was not the lowest bidder for tank wagon loads, under the local preference the company was extended the opportunity to meet the non-local bidder's bid.
