Description

This contract is for the procurement of three (3) blowers from Aerzen USA Corporation in an amount not to exceed $256,496. The new upgraded blowers will replace the existing blowers at the CrossRoads Water Reclamation Plant and will supply the necessary air to meet the digester tanks and Equalization Basin (EQ) requirements.

Digester tanks and equalization basins are both tanks used in wastewater treatment. Digesters are closed tanks used in anaerobic digestion to break down organic materials like food waste and cow manure. Microorganisms decompose the materials in the tank, which has no oxygen, to produce biogas that can be used as an energy source. The equalization basins are used to collect and store wastewater at fluctuating rates and then release it at a steady flow rate to the rest of the treatment process. This helps to prevent drain fields from being overloaded during peak flow periods. Equalization basins can also be used to capture and store peak stormwater flows, which can then be moved to stormwater treatment areas at a steady rate.

This is a sole source because Aerzen is the exclusive provider of these blowers. Changing the brand of blowers would cost the City more to replace the existing blowers and replace the current configuration of the blower system. Terms: Net 30 days. Delivery: As requested.

The vendor is:

S.S. Aerzen USA Corporation (Coatesville, PA) (D)     $256,496

A pre-bid conference was not conducted as this is a sole source procurement. (D) Indicated non-local, non-DBE business.
