Description

Recommend approval of Contract Modification No. 1 to Johnson-Laux Construction in the amount of $2,149.00. The original contract was for renovations to the Bryan Street Garage office, including demolition of select partitions, construction of new partitions, demolition and replacement of finish systems and casework, replacement of plumbing fixtures, and reworking of the existing HVAC system to accommodate the new layout. This modification is needed to include additional painting, floor patching near the exit door, and additional trim and counters.

Council originally approved this contract on January 4, 2017 in the amount of $281,338.00. The total amount of this contract to date, including this modification, is $283,487.00. The second lowest bidder was Collins Construction in the amount of $318,690.00. This modification could not have been foreseen by any bidder.
