Title 14. Request to Amend Code Sec. 7-1021, Appendix I, Sec. 219, Stopping, Standing, and Parking Prohibited in a Portion of the 400 Block of Lee Boulevard
Strategic Priority Public Safety
Description The Traffic Engineering Department has received a request from a property owner to prohibit parking on the north side of Lee Boulevard between the exit from the Heard Elementary School driveway and Andover Drive. Lee Boulevard is a 24-foot-wide, two-lane residential street in the Oakdale neighborhood. It begins at Waters Avenue and continues west for approximately 1,650 feet where it intersects with Andover Drive. West of Andover, Lee Boulevard continues for an additional 300 feet where it terminates into a grass access easement for the Casey South Canal. This westernmost segment is residential on the south side with Heard Elementary School on the north. Parents and visitors regularly park along the north side of the street, restricting both property owner and emergency service access. Traffic Engineering has investigated these concerns, and has determined that this area of Lee Boulevard is not suitable for parking and that parking should be prohibited as a traffic safety measure. CODE AMENDMENTS Amend the Code of the City of Savannah, Section 7-1091, Appendix I, Sec. 219 Stopping, Standing and Parking Prohibited ADD: Lee Boulevard North side: Beginning at the west curbline of Andover Drive and extending for a distance of 200’ to the west.
