Title 31. Motion to Award Contract Amendment No. 2 for Springfield Basin Model Calibration Consulting Services with Thomas & Hutton Engineering (Event No. 5381)
Strategic Priority Infrastructure
Description Recommend approval of Contract Amendment No. 2 for the Springfield Basin Model Calibration contract with Thomas & Hutton Engineering in the amount of $6,750.00. The original contract was for the updating of the City’s Springfield Canal basin hydraulic model. This was a sole source because Thomas & Hutton Engineering exclusively has performed the modeling of the basin. Therefore, additional design by this vendor did not require duplication of design work. This amendment is needed for basin inundation mapping updates/calibration. Specifically, the inundation as predicted by the existing model does not match the reports of flooding the City has received. It is important that the model be both accurate and reliable, hence the request to calibrate the model based on recent inundation events. This effort will result in a more accurate model and will benefit our use of the model for the Springfield basin as it relates to CIP planning as well as private development reviews. The original contract was approved by Council on August 3, 2017 in the amount of $82,500.00. The total contract amount to date, including this modification, is $137,130.00.
