The agreement will include guidance for the development and implementation of a Shade Garden west of the Fragrant Garden in Forsyth Park.  The Trustees' Garden Club approached the Park and Tree Department wanting to work with us on a project to commemorate their Club's 100th anniversary. They selected the shade garden project from the Forsyth Park Master plan and have worked with staff on  a design to include an aggregate path, benches, and shade tolerant plantings (see attached). The Club applied for a grant through the Garden Club of America and the Shade Garden project was recognized as the 2025 Founders Fund Runner Up, receiving a grant award of $10,000.  The City of Savannah plans to contribute approximately $20,000 towards the project in the form of landscape and irrigation installation assistance. The City of Savannah has been working with Trustees Garden Club on this project since 2024.

Approval
