Title Motion to Award Construction Contract to McLendon Enterprises for West River Street Infrastructure Improvements (Event No. 4803)
Description Recommend awarding a $5,677,106.58 contract with McLendon Enterprises to extend, relocate, and upgrade existing water and sewer infrastructure on the west end of River Street. The work consists of approximately 1,400 linear feet of 8-inch-diameter sanitary sewer force main, approximately 400 linear feet of 12-inch-diameter sanitary gravity sewer, 1,000 linear feet of 12-inch-diameter potable water line, and reconstruction of a sanitary sewer lift station. Working conditions associated with the deep excavations along River Street, in addition to the coordination, timing, and close proximity of on-going private development work along West River Street, will be critical. The River Street infrastructure improvements were included in a Reciprocal Easement and Development Agreement with Plant Riverside signed by the City on November 22, 2016. Other public improvements specified in the agreement include streetscape improvements to Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard between Bay and River streets, and a new stairway and elevator in the unopened Montgomery Street right of way between Williamson and River streets. Funded with available capital reserves in the Water & Sewer Fund.
