Title 19. Motion to Amend the Zoning Ordinance to Provide a Zoning Designation for 6.64 Acres on Canebrake Road to be Annexed into the City of Savannah (Petitioner: Baps Savannah, LLC.)
Strategic Priority Economic Strength And Poverty Reduction
Description The City of Savannah received an annexation petition for two contiguous parcels with an aggregate of approximately 6.64 acres located on Canebrake Road near South Gateway Blvd. The parcels are owned by BAPS Savannah LLC. The land under petition is contiguous to existing City territory and therefore can be annexed by ordinance adopted by City Council. As required by State law, Chatham County has been informed of receipt of this petition. Annexation is being sought by the owner to gain access to the municipal utilities provided by the City. The owner desires to gain access to these services on in-city terms. The cost of providing water and sewer service to the parcel will be fully covered by connection fees and service fees levied by the City for providing service. The current and proposed future use of the property is a religious temple. The development of a gymnasium facility on the property is planned. Pursuant to the parcels' current zoning by Chatham County, the parcels' zoning after annexation will be designated “R-A-CO” on the zoning map of the City of Savannah.
