Authorize the City Manager to execute a Mutual Aid Agreement with Georgia Southern University.

The purpose of this agreement is to provide law enforcement services upon the request of either Georgia Southern University or the Savannah Police Department in response to emergency or special circumstances which may exceed the immediate resources, skill, and/or equipment capacities of the requesting agency. It is intended to offer support to both parties by arranging for police services should circumstances arise, thereby improving overall public safety within the City of Savannah.  Georgia Southern University’s Savannah campus is within the City limits and under the authority of Georgia’s Mutual Aid Act; local governments and state institutions of higher learning are permitted to enter into Mutual Aid agreements when approved by the governing body. Savannah Police Department currently has a Mutual Aid Agreement in place with Savannah State University. This agreement may be renewed each year.
