27. Authorize the City Manager to Accept a Rapid Response Grant Award in the Amount of $95,000. The award will be used to implement general Dislocated Worker workforce/training activities. The City serves as the fiduciary agent for the ten-county region.

Description

The City of Savannah has received a “Statement of Grant Award” through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act for a Rapid Response grant in the amount of $95,000 from the Technical College System of Georgia, Office of Workforce Development to be administered by WorkSource Coastal. These funds will be used to implement general Dislocated Worker workforce/training activities. The grant period is January 1, 2023 through June 30, 2023. The Rapid Response grant will serve Bryan, Bulloch, Camden, Chatham, Effingham, Glynn, Liberty, Long, McIntosh and Screven counties. 

 

Pursuant to the WorkSource Coastal Consortium Agreement, the City of Savannah serves as the fiduciary agent for the ten-county region and, as such, City Council approval and authorization for the City Manager to receive grant funding and enter into grant administration agreements is necessary in accordance with the City of Savannah's procurement policies and procedures.
