Title 16. Motion to Amend the Zoning Map Regarding the Conservation Overlay Districts (Petitioner: The Planning Commission)
Strategic Priority Good Government
Description The Mayor and Aldermen approved this map amendment request following a zoning hearing at the March 29, 2018 City Council Meeting. The action being considered now is the approval of an ordinance to create an overlay district. The Planning Commission, petitioner, is proposing to amend the Zoning Map (File No. 18-000225-ZA) to create the Ardsley Park-Chatham Crescent Conservation Overlay District (CD-1) and the Ardmore Conservation Overlay District (CD-2). The MPC recommended the Zoning Map be amended to include a Conservation Overlay District during their review of a related text amendment. Therefore, a Map Amendment Application was not filed with the Office of the Clerk of Council by the text amendment applicant. The Ardsley Park-Chatham Crescent-Ardmore Neighborhood Association's proposed a text amendment to amend the Zoning Ordinance creating an overlay district for the area within the neighborhood association’s boundaries to include the areas known as Ardsley Park, Chatham Crescent and Ardmore (File No. 17-007079-ZA). The proposed overlay (Article Q) is intended to require that proposed demolitions of historic buildings within this area be reviewed by the Metropolitan Planning Commission prior to the issuance of a building permit. On February 20, 2018, the Planning Commission voted to recommend approval to amend the Zoning Ordinance to amend the Zoning Map regarding the historic Conservation Overlay Districts.
