Description Recommend approval to procure meals for the summer lunch program from Savannah-Chatham Board of Education in the amount of $4.25 per meal for up to $156,055. The Recreation and Leisure Services Department will use the summer lunch program to provide nearly 36,700 meals to students for lunch this summer. The summer lunch program is fully funded by a grant from the U.S Department of Agriculture. The Recreation and Leisure Services Department will operate the lunch program provided by the Savannah-Chatham Board of Education. As the program sponsor, the City provided approximatley 66,000 meals in 2019 to youth participating in the Recreation and Leisure Services Summer Camp Program as well as playgrounds and partner sites for a total of 24 locations. The program was suspsended in 2020 due to Pandemic restrictions. This is a sole source because Federal guidelines mandate that local school nutrition services be utilized to provide these school lunches when feasible.
