Title 5. Authorize the City Manager to Execute a Contract Renewal for Sludge Dewatering Chemicals (Used During the Process for Wastewater Treatment and Disposal) with Polydyne Inc. for an Amount up to $94,000 (Event No. 6930)
Strategic Priority Infrastructure
Description Recommend approval to renew an annual contract for sludge dewatering chemicals (or polymer) from Polydyne Inc. for an amount up to $94,000. The polymer will be used by the President Street Plant during the sludge dewatering process. Sludge dewatering is the practice of minimizing waste by volume to prepare for its effective disposal. Sludge originates during the process of treating wastewater before the water can be released back into the environment. It is the by-product extracted from the slurry during the process of industrial or municipal wastewater treatment. This process converts liquids, using the polymer, and produces a solid which is easier to handle, dewater and dispose of in the landfill. The cost of polymer is $1.07 per pound. Last year, the department spent approximately $86,135 on over 80,000 pounds of polymer. The contract was originally approved by Council on June 20, 2019. This is the first of three renewal options available. L.B. Polydyne, Inc. (Riceboro, GA)D (D) Indicates non-local, non-DBE business.
