At the direction of the City Manager, staff was asked to research the Subdivision Review Process used by the other large cities in Georgia.  After review, staff recommends a revision to the Subdivision Regulations Ordinance removing the signature requirement of the City Manager for minor subdivision and easement plats.  Research by the City Surveyor found that none of the other 5 largest cities in Georgia require the City Manager to sign plats (See exhibit).  Additionally, staff from our Cultural Resources Department found that prior to April 29, 1982, the City Manager was not required to sign plats in the City of Savannah.  This action will improve government efficiency during the approval process for plats.
