Title
16. Agreement Between the City of Savannah and Georgia Power for Light Up Savannah Initiative – Georgia Power Audit and Inventory Assessment.
Strategic Priority
Good Government
Description

The agreement represents the first phase of the initiative to conduct an audit with the goal of developing a comprehensive streetlight inventory and assessment. The work would be conducted via Georgia Power, per the scope of work, noting the cost of $700K. The audit will support a multi-phased strategic approach that incorporates the following priorities:

  • Prioritizing lighting needs based on crime rates, crash severity, and existing lighting coverage.
  • Identifying areas with the highest need for light enhancements.
  • Highlighting the requirement for new lights and identifying existing lights in need of repair or replacement.

The "Light Up Savannah” initiative for Savannah would be aimed at enhancing public safety, improving road safety and thereby improving the overall quality of life for our City's residents and visitors. By engaging in this first phase of this multi-phased effort, we believe that this will drastically accelerate our efforts to make substantial progress in enhancing the lighting on our City's streets.
