21. Motion to Authoirze the City Manager to Execute a Construction Contract with Dabbs-Williams General Contractors for Fire Station 14 at the Highlands in the amount of $3,046,000 (Event No. 7285)

Description

Recommend approval to award a construction contract for Highlands Fire Station from Dabbs-William General Contractors in the amount of $3,046,000.  This contract will be used by the Office of Capital Improvements Department to provide a new fire station located at 440 Highlands Boulevard, which will replace an existing small temporary fire station.  The building will include three apparatus bays, offices, and restrooms with showers, sleeping quarters, common areas, and other ancillary spaces. 

This event had a 20% LDBE goal.  The recommended proposer submitted DBE participation at the subcontractor level in the amount of 20.52% using Big Bend Rebar (1.88%), Savannah Construction and Preservation (10.7%), and JCS Associates and Company (9.82%).
