Description

Recommend approval of contract modification No. 1 for recycled crushed aggregate stone with Savannah River Utilities (Savannah, GA)(F) for up to $60,000.

This contract is utilized to procure recycled crushed aggregate (i.e. stone, concrete, asphalt) to support operations such as providing traction for vehicles driving into the landfill. The contract allows procurement of three different types of recycled crushed aggregate stone ranging from $14 to $20 per ton and a $5 per ton delivery charge.. The maximum contract amount has been reached due to the move towards the closure of existing cells and the opening of the new cell has significantly impacted the usage rate of this type of material. The requested increase will allow Sanitation to continue on a planned and as-needed basis to support central operations, particularly at the Dean Forest Road Landfill. A landfill cell is a single, lined waste-holding unit within the larger landfill property/site.  t

The method used for this procurement was a bid.

The original contract was approved by City Council on February 5, 2021, in the amount of $54,325. Contract modification No. 1 would raise the amount of the contract from $54,325 to $114,325.

Recommend approval of Contract Modification No. 1 in the amount up to $60,000.

(F) Indicates local, non-DBE owned business possessing a City Business Tax Certificate for less than one year prior to the release of the bidding opportunity. Recommend approval.
