This is for Contract Modification No. 1 for Bilbo Canal Widening with SJ Hamill Construction in the amount of $81,086. The Bilbo Canal Improvements Phase 2 consists of the construction of 800 linear feet of the Combi wall. Maintenance roads will be improved to provide better access to the site. Sheet piles will be driven to structurally reinforce the site during and after construction. The estimated duration of this project is 18 months.

In an effort to acquire additional geotechnical data, City staff required the contractor to perform Pile Data Analysis (PDA). The project initially required a vibratory hammer for installing king pile. The City’s consulting geotechnical engineer requires that a diesel hammer be used to collect pile data. Due to the diesel hammer not being included in the initial contract, the contractor will need to obtain, mobilize, and set up a diesel hammer for test pile installation.

City’s cost share is $4,500,000. The remaining balance will be paid by Riverview President Street, LLC up to $2,000,000 per development agreement dated March 23, 2022.

This contract was originally approved by the Council on May 11, 2023, in the amount of $5,872,540. The contract modification is in the amount of $81,086. The total amount of this contract to date, including this modification is $5,953,626.
