Title
14. Motion to Amend the Special Use Ordinance for 5715 Skidaway Road to Allow Construction of a Pavilion (Petitioner: Josh Yellin for Colleen Smith/Cohen's Retreat)
Strategic Priority
N/A
Description

Josh Yellin as agent for Colleen Smith (18-004741-ZA) is requesting approval of an amendment to the special use conditions associated with the Cohen’s Retreat property, 5715 Skidaway Road, zoned PUD-IS (Planned Unit Development – Institutional). The proposed amendment would permit the construction of a 20-by-30-foot pavilion to house a portion of the historic Irish Blarney Stone. Upon the original application submittal, the petitioner requested an additional amendment to the existing signage conditions; however, upon the recommendation of staff, the petitioner has since withdrawn this additional amendment related to signage.

On October 9, 2018, the Planning Commission voted to recommend approval of the petitioner’s proposed amendment to the special use conditions for Cohen’s Retreat, contingent upon the removal of the proposed signage amendment.

On May 10, 2018, the Mayor and Aldermen approved an amendment to the Special Use Ordinance for 5715 Skidaway Road. The applicant plans to submit an amendment related to signage at a later date.

Recommendation

Approval on the condition that the applicant meets with the Building Official and Fire Marshal, and meets the following requirements: "a Certificate of Occupancy and/or Certificate of Completion shall be required for existing uses and prior to any use changes affecting any and all buildings and accessory structures."
