Description

This is a notification of an emergency procurement of one (1) Habsite Meter from Safeware, Inc., in the amount of $148,500. The purchase of the FLIR G510 Habsite Meter will replace a current meter purchased 18 years ago, used on many occasions to keep the hazmat team and community safe from hazardous gases and vapors. The current 18-year-old meter is out of service and the vendor is unable to repair or provide any kind of services due to its age and usage. According to the manufacturer (Inficon), this piece of equipment has reached the end of its life.

This piece of equipment is crucial to the Savannah Fire’s hazardous team ability to provide services to the City of Savannah and Chatham County, and the team serves as the regional type (one) 1 team for the State of Georgia. Savannah Fire must maintain the capability to respond, identify, and mitigate hazardous materials incidents even when faced with unknown gases and vapors. The way to determine where to evacuate shelter in place, what type of personal protection equipment to use, and which mitigating strategies are appropriate is by sampling and analyzing the unknown gas to determine its exact makeup, which this equipment does. The purchase of this new gas chromatograph/mass spectrometer/habsite meter maintains the Hazmat team’s ability to respond to unknown hazardous gases and vapors, and provide the city of Savannah with the capabilities to protect its citizens, industries, and visitors. Delivery: Immediately. Terms: Net 30 Days.
