Motion to Adopt Recommendations of "Parking Matters" Plan for the Greater Downtown Savannah Area
Description

The Resolution supports the recommendations of the Parking Matters study that was conducted in 2016-2017.  The Resolution also modifies the implementation recommendations to include:

  • Pursuing satellite parking for workers with proper transportation connections into the heart of downtown
  • Implementing meter enforcement on Sundays after 2 p.m.
  • Implementing residential zones and/or $2/hour zones in residential dominant areas that contain large hotels and/or short-term vacation rentals
  • Proper notification to neighborhoods and City Council when changes to the zones are made
  • Ensure that Zoning requirements for parking are maintained

With the approval of this Resolution, contracts for new meters and applicable ordinance changes will also be brought before City Council in current and future meetings.
