The City of Savannah has received a "Statement of Grant Award" for Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act PY2016 Adult Worker Program Funds in the amount of $175,000.00 to be spent on job placement, job training and support services. These funds awarded by the Georgia Department of Economic Development will provide training support for the Savannah Fire and Rescue Department’s Emergency Medical Technician program and the Byrd Cookie Company expansion for the grant period of February 1, 2018 to June 30, 2019. The PY2016 Adult Worker Grant (Work Base Learning) will serve Bryan, Bulloch, Camden, Chatham, Effingham, Glynn, Liberty, Long, McIntosh and Screven counties.

Pursuant to the WorkSource Coastal Agreement, the City of Savannah serves as the fiduciary agent for the 10-county region, and as such, City Council approval and authorization for the City Manager to receive grant funding and enter into grant administration agreements is necessary in accordance with the City of Savannah's procurement policies and procedures.
