Strategic Priority
Good Government
Description

Chatham County has requested an extension of an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) providing use of the City- owned property located at 2203 Abercorn Street. The facility is being used as the MARC (Multi-Agency Resource Center) by a coalition of government and non-profit partners to facilitate a juvenile intervention program known as the Front Porch. The IGA was approved by City Council, commenced on July 9, 2018, and it is set to expire on June 30, 2024. Per the Agreement, the City provides use of the facility and the County incurs all operating expenses, minor repairs, and maintenance.

Proposed is a three (3) year extension to expire on June 30, 2027. The County would assume responsibilities for the heating, ventilation, and cooling (HVAC) system, should those systems need replacement during the term of the Agreement. The Amendment also provides for one (1) optional three-year (3) extension bringing the potential IGA end-date to June 30, 2030. Exercise of this optional extension requires agreement by both parties.
