16. Motion to Amend the Zoning Ordinance Regarding the Creation of a Conservation Overlay District for Daffin Park and Parkside (Petitioner: Parkside Neighborhood Association)
Strategic Priority
Good Government
Description

The petitioner, Parkside Neighborhood Association, is requesting approval to amend the Zoning Ordinance to create a Conservation Overlay District (Article Q) for the area known as Daffin Park and Parkside.

This is the first of two related agenda items.  The second is to designate Daffin Park and Parkside as a Conservation Overlay District on the Zoning Map.

On January 29, 2019, the Planning Commission voted to recommend approval of the request to amend Article Q: Conservation Overlay District to add Daffin-Park Parkside with the condition that the boundaries are consistent with the National Register boundaries (NRB).  Staff has confirmed the boundaries are consistent with the NRB.

The National Park Services published the Daffin Park-Parkside Historic District in the National Register of Historic Places on May 12, 1999.
