Description

Petition of Ryan Williamson, agent for Strangebird Savannah LLC, on behalf of Martin Smith, agent for Savannah College of Art and Design, is requesting approval for a Special Use Permit with conditions, to allow on premises consumption of alcohol (beer and wine) in association with a restaurant at 1220 Barnard Street (PIN 20044 35006). The property is zoned TC-1 (Traditional Commerical-1) and requires a Special Use Permit for this use.

 

The subject property is located on the northeast corner of Barnard Street and West Henry Street and is approximately 0.29 acres (12,632 square feet in size). It is the petitioner’s intention to open a small restaurant within the streamliner serving smoked meats, tacos, burritos, and veggie sides, as well as beer and wine. The petitioner will be required to submit an alcoholic beverage application which will be considered by Mayor and Aldermen at a future Council meeting. 

Recommendation

On July 25, 2023, the Planning Commission approved a Special Use Permit for Ryan Williamson, agent for Strangebird Savannah LLC, on behalf of Martin Smith, agent for Savannah College of Art and Design, for 1220 Barnard Street (PIN 20044 35006) under these conditions:

  1. The Special Use permit shall be nontransferable;
  2. Accessory alcohol sales for beer and wine only; and
  3. Operational hours shall be from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
