Description

Recommend approval to renew an annual contract for street repair and resurfacing services with Savannah River Utilities for an amount up to $5,900,000. The Mobility Services Department will use these services to mill and resurface asphalt streets within City limits. These services will also be used to resurface streets in order to eliminate pavement defects and to restore roads for safe travel. The repair portion of the contract will supplement work completed by City crews and will be used during excessive workload times, and/or emergency situations and when repair complexity exceeds the City's resources. The resurfacing portion of this contract will be utilized to resurface City streets. The fees for this contract vary based on the specific job (unit of measure, total per ton, per square yard, etc.). The City spent $2,508,617 in 2020. The increase this year is due to an increasing need for repair of aging streets.

This contract was originally approved by Council on February 27, 2020. This is the first of four renewals available. The contract term expires on March 24, 2021.
