As part of the City’s hurricane planning efforts, emergency management staff have developed an agreement with Armstrong State University to house critical workforce personnel during a hurricane. Personnel would deploy around the City based on storm strength. The agreement would allow the City to station up to 775 personnel at the facility for tropical cyclones up to and including Category 2 hurricanes, with Armstrong’s concurrence. This agreement had been updated and is ready for execution.

With the forecasted impacts for Hurricane Irma, the City Manager executed the agreement in order to expedite the City’s use of the facility. The agreement is effective from date of execution through December 31, 2017. This agreement will be re-negotiated in 2018 due to scheduled renovations at the current facility.
