Title Motion to Amend Article H, Part 6, Section 6-1214, subsection (b), of the Code of Ordinances to Extend the Go-Cup Zone to Include the Savannah River Landing
Description On August 3, 2017, City Council approved a restated development agreement with developers of the Savannah River Landing, a 55-acre mixed-use development north of East President Street that is planned to have multifamily residential, hotels, office, single-family residential, and retail space. The development will contain public parks and squares that will be constructed for recreational and cultural uses. The development is designed as an extension of the Historic District, with similar uses, public spaces and development patterns, and fronting a 2,100-foot extension of Savannah's world-famous riverwalk. The developers have petitioned the City to extend the City's Go-Cup Zone onto the Savannah River Landing property, to allow the outdoor consumption of alcohol on public spaces. The same rules and restrictions would apply. This requires an amendment to the Code of Ordinances. First reading of this ordinance amendment was heard by City Council on August 31, 2017. This is the second and final reading.
