The City of Savannah has received a “Statement of Grant Award” for Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act Adult/Dislocated Worker Program Funds in the amount of $425,036.00 from the Georgia Department of Economic Development, Workforce Division, which will provide year-round Adult/Dislocated Worker programs for the period of July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2019 to adults who are unemployed and underemployed; and adults who have lost their job due to downsizing or through no fault of their own. The PY2017 Adult/Dislocated Worker Grant Award was accepted by the Coastal Workforce Development Board (CWDB) on August 25, 2017.

Pursuant to the Coastal Workforce Services Consortium Agreement, the City of Savannah serves as the fiduciary agent for the 10-county region, and as such, City Council approval and authorization for the City Manager to receive grant funding and enter into grant administration agreements with sub-grant recipients is necessary in accordance with the City of Savannah's procurement policies and procedures.
