Title Motion to Approve Extension of Rental Agreement to the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center
Description The NABCO Mobile Thermal Treatment Unit (MTTU) is used by law enforcement, military and private organizations to treat or neutralize old or recovered ammunition (.50 calibers or less). The MTTU is designed to contain a 2-pound (0.91-kg) TNT detonation inside the chamber to provide operator safety during an extreme energetic reaction inside the unit. In 2013, the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department's Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team was awarded with a MTTU Burn Unit through a Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) Grant. In August 2016, the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) signed a rental agreement with the City of Savannah for use of the MTTU Unit for a period of six months. The rental rate is $3,500 per month. FLETC requests a rental extension for an additional five months. A total of $38,500 in revenue will be acquired from the equipment rental.
