This request is for an honorary street renaming of a portion of  Montgomery Street  between Staley Ave and 5207 Montgomery St (Berkley Pl) to “Bishop James G. Rodges Interchange".  The street is located in the Tatemville and Sylvan Terrace Neighborhoods.

Bishop Rodges is the pastor of Jonesville Baptist Church located in the section proposed to be renamed.  Bishop Rodges has led the congregation in faithful devotion since 1988, seeing the church though expansions and growth not only in its physical structure but also in its civic and community efforts. Through his leadership the congregation hosts a variety of events that provide safe gathering spaces for the community it supports.  Hosting an annual Christmas Toy Drive, a scholarship program and a traditional Thanksgiving Day dinner for local children's shelters are just a few ways Bishop Rodges has contributed to the growth of not only his congregation but also the surrounding community. 

On September 3, 2026, the Historic Sites and Monuments Commission recommended approval of renaming the portion of Montgomery Street between Staley Ave and 5207 Montgomery St (Berkley Pl) to "Bishop James G Rodges Interchange."
