Description A petition was submitted by Bridget Lidy on behalf of the Mayor and Aldermen to amend sections of the Zoning Ordinance. The first revision addresses architectural compatibility and owner occupancy requirements of accessory dwelling units as outlined in Section 8.7.4. The second revision will require nonconforming lots of record to comply with the City's subdivision plat approval process for any proposed change to such lots.

Recommendation The Planning Commission considered the petition on September 1, 2020 and recommended amending Sections 8.7.4 Accessory Dwelling Units and 11.5 Nonconforming Lots of the Zoning Code. In addition, the Planning Commission recommended that the definition of Accessory Dwelling Unit as provided in Section 13.2 Abbreviations and Definitions be amended to read: Accessory Dwelling Unit: A structure used as an individual residential unit located on the same lot as the principal dwelling that is subordinate to the principal structure. | |
