OFFICIAL PROCEEDINS OF THE MAYOR AND ALDERMEN

SAVANNAH, GEORGIA

The special called meeting of the City Council was held at 11:36 a.m. via Zoom communication, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Mayor Johnson recognized Alderman Palumbo to offer an invocation.

Alderwoman Linda Wilder-Bryan, District 3

Alderman Nick Palumbo, District 4, Vice-Chairman

Alderwoman Dr. Estella Edwards Shabazz, District 5, Mayor Pro-Tem

Alderman Kurtis Purtee, District 6

ABSENT:   Alderwoman Kesha Gibson-Carter, At-Large, Post 1, Chairman

Alderwoman Alicia Miller Blakely, At-Large, Post 2

Clerk of Council Mark Massey

Mayor Johnson welcomed the new City Manager Jay Melder to his first meeting of the Mayor and Aldermen, and explained the overall purpose for the meeting and the vaccine incentive program.

City Manager Melder explained the initiative in further detail, along with the Deputy City Attorney and Mayor Johnson.  They responded to questions and comments raised from Council Members.

Mr. Melder indicated he already has the authority needed to implement the Vaccine Incentive Plan, as coordinated with Chatham County Board of Commissioners, Savannah-Chatham County Public School System/Board of Education and CAT (Chatham Area Transit).

Mr. Melder announced there will be a press conference later today at 2 p.m. on the second floor of the Chatham County Legislative Courthouse.

Mayor Johnson adjourned the Meeting at 12:06 p.m. (NO ACTION WAS TAKEN).
