60. Added Item: Authorize the City Manager to Accept the PY24 Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act Grant Award for National Dislocated Worker/Disaster Recovery Grant (NDW/DRG) Program in the Amount of $215,000. The award will be used to provide disaster recovery activities from August 5, 2024, through June 30, 2025, to assist with temporary loss of employment, clean-up projects, demolition, repair, renovation, and reconstruction of destroyed public structures, facilities and lands within the 10-county region communities affected by Hurricane Debby.

Description

The City of Savannah has received a “Statement of Grant Award” for the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act Award for National Dislocated Worker/Disaster Recovery Grant (NDW/DRG) from the Technical College System of Georgia, Office of Workforce Development in the amount of $215,000. The Program Grant Award will provide assistance with program activities such as temporary loss of employment, clean-up projects, demolition, repair, renovation, and reconstruction of destroyed public structures, facilities and lands affected by Hurricane Debby between the period of August 5, 2024, to July 31, 2025. The funds will serve Bryan, Bulloch, Camden, Chatham, Effingham, Glynn, Liberty, Long, McIntosh, and/or Screven counties.

Pursuant to the Coastal Workforce Services Consortium Agreement, the City of Savannah serves as the fiduciary agent for the 10-county region, and as such, City Council approval and authorization for the City Manager to receive grant funds and enter into grant administration agreements is necessary in accordance with the City of Savannah's procurement policies and procedures.
