Title 18. Authorize the City Manager to Execute a Contract Modification for Construction Services at Highlands Fire Station with Dabbs-Williams General Contractors in the Amount of $120,000 (Event No. 7285)
Strategic Priority Public Safety
Description Recommend approval of Contract Modification No.1 for an Exhaust Extraction System at Highlands Fire Station with Dabbs-William General Contractors in the amount of $120,000. The original contract was for providing a new fire station located at 480 Highlands Boulevard. The building includes three apparatus bays, offices, and restrooms with showers, sleeping quarters, common areas, and other ancillary spaces. The project includes site work, utilities, parking lot and landscaping. The contract modification will provide a closed exhaust capture system for six vehicles in the apparatus bay by means of a hose-duct-ceiling rail system, a fan motor, and a computerized sensor control system. This will significantly reduce health hazards for firefighters as part of Savannah Fire’s ongoing cancer reduction initiatives. This contract was originally approved by Council on September 26, 2019 in the amount of $3,046,000. The total amount of the contract to date, including modification No. 1 is $3,166,000.
