Title 43. Motion to Approve Naming of Park at Intersection of Norwood Road and Elder Court "Thomas Fulton, Jr. Park"
Strategic Priority Neighborhood Revitalization
Description The Petitioner (City of Savannah) is requesting approval to name an unnamed park, “Thomas Fulton Jr. Park.” The park is located in the Windsor Forest neighborhood at the intersection of Norwood Road and Elder Court. The proposed name of the park meets the City Ordinance standards (Article E, Naming and Renaming of Public Property, Facilities and Streets, Section 4-1100 thru 1108). The park is proposed to be named after Thomas Fulton Jr., a Savannah native and noteworthy person associated with the City. Mr. Fulton was instrumental in the creation of the Windsor Forest Neighborhood Association and was an avid activist for tree preservation. He served on the Park and Tree Commission from 1995-2005. He was Chair of the Park and Tree Commission from 1999-2002. Mr. Fulton passed away in 2011. The Historic Site and Monument Commission recommends approval.
