The Savannah Exchange Club holds many community events at its 320-acre property which is located inside the Savannah city limits near the Interchange of Highway 204 and Interstate 95. This property is in the City of Savannah’s Water and Sewer Service Area and is subject to all applicable City of Savannah regulations regarding water and sewer system operations. The property is currently utilizing a temporary sewer collection and disposal system for events that occur on the property with the approval of the City. 

The MOU details the process and procedures, as well as the schedule for the Savannah Exchange Club to end the temporary arrangement and complete the design, permitting, and construction of the proposed sanitary sewer system that will connect the property to the City of Savannah Public Sewer System and which will serve the property’s long-term sewer needs. The MOU stipulates that the Savannah Exchange Club must complete the project and connect the onsite sewer to the City of Savannah public sewer system by no later than March 31, 2023. The MOU also outlines the process that would be enacted in the event that the Savannah Exchange Club fails to complete the project, as well as the financial implications of such failure whereby the City would come in to complete the project using funds provided by the Savannah Exchange Club. Additionally, the MOU also details the roles and responsibilities of the Savannah Exchange Club and the financial implications that would apply in the event that an onsite sewer system spill occurred. 
 

The City Attorney’s Office has reviewed and approved the MOU, including the provisions related to the Savannah Exchange Club’s failure to complete the project as required.
