| Description Visit Savannah and the Savannah Sports Council are in the final phase of developing a proposal to host the tournament that is projected to bring over 100,000 fans and suppliers to our area over a 10-day period. With an estimated financial impact in the tens of millions of dollars, staff requests the Commission approve a commitment of $50,000 towards the total $500,000 financial commitment needed to host the event. The decision on the 2027 tournament will be made by the end of this year and an announcement would come later after destinations for the 2025 and 2026 events are announced. If Savannah is not chosen, funds committed will be returned by Visit Savannah/Savannah Sports Council. Funds for this commitment are available in the 2022 Marketing Sponsorships budget. | |
