Title 15. Motion to Authorize the City Manager to Procure an Emergency Standby Power System for Lift Station No. 14 from Energy Systems Southeast in the Amount of $26,357 (Event No. 7356)
Strategic Priority Public Safety
Description Recommend approval authorize the City Manager to procure an emergency standby power system for Lift Station No. 14 from Energy Systems Southeast in the amount of $26,357. This will be used by the Public Works and Water Resources Department to provide power to Lift Station No. 14, located at 1 Sheridan Circle (Paradise Park), which will assure the sanitary sewer service to the City residents during power outages. This will prevent sewer backups into homes and businesses. Each sanitary sewer lift station includes pumping, piping, mechanical, electrical, odor control and failsafe systems and facilities all utilize electric power for operation. If these operations cannot occur, along with the above consequences, public health and safety will be put at risk and possible further violations of our State NPDES (National Pollution Elimination System) permit, which could also result in State Environmental Protection Division or Federal Consent Orders or Decrees and fines. 70% of the existing City’s 206 operating lift stations have emergency power systems. This project was not identified as an SBE project because the requirement of three certified SBEs could not be met at the time this bid was released.
