The City of Savannah received an annexation petition from the owner of 668 acres located off Little Neck Road. The petitioner desires to develop a large-scale residential development on the property and needs access to City of Savannah provided utilities to do so. No portion of the property will be designated for industrial use. To coordinate needed improvements to Little Neck Road that will become even more necessary with this residential development, an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) between Chatham County and the City of Savannah is being proposed. The agreement defines each entity's responsibility for the construction and maintenance of improvements to Little Neck Road and other public infrastructure in the area that could be impacted by the development. The City will pay half of the anticipated $20,000,000 in improvements widening Little Neck Road from 2 lanes to 4 lanes up to I-95. Once those improvements are completed, the City will maintain the roadway and right of ways along that corridor.

Approval
