Description

Recommend approval of a summary change order in the amount of $11,330.23 to Johnson-Laux Construction(A) for additional work performed as part of the construction of the new restrooms at Bonaventure Cemetery.

The original project included demolition of the existing restroom building at the site and the construction of a new restroom building approximately 617 square feet in size. The new building includes three (3) restrooms: men’s, women’s and family.  The building aesthetically fits within the boundaries of a historic cemetery.  The new restroom required a number of site improvements including: installation of a new sewer manhole & pipe, parking lot improvements, sidewalks, fencing, site utilities, drainage and landscaping.  

This change order is needed due to changes in the scope of work which includes the addition of touchless plumbing fixtures due to Covid-19 concerns, relocation of an ADA handicap parking space and ramp due to a conflict with a relocated power pole and the addition of a baseboard for the epoxy flooring for maintenance concerns.

The original contract was approved by City Council on December 19, 2019 in the amount of $333,692.29.  The total contract amount to date including this change order is $345,022.52.
