Title 62. Motion to Amend Sections 8-1002, 8-1037(e)(6) and 8-1040 of the Code of Ordinances to Eliminate a Code Enforcement Appeals Board
Strategic Priority Good Government
Description This amendment deletes Part 8, Chapter 1, Article B, Administration and Enforcement of Minimal Codes, Sections 8-1037(e)(6) and 8-1040, adopted in March 1998 to allow for the establishment of a Code Enforcement Appeals Board to hear and decide upon appeals on those ordinances or technical and permissive codes, except the National Electric Code, where it is alleged there is error in any interpretation made by the Building Official, Code Official, or Fire Official. This board has not been used since 2013, and is no longer necessary due to a more effective use of Recorder's Court by the City. This amendment also revises Section 8-1002 to eliminate the requirement to inform property owners of the right to appeal on notices and orders issued by the Code Compliance Department.
