38. Approval of the City of Savannah's 2023 Legislative Agenda.
Strategic Priority
Good Government
Description

Annually, City Council adopts a legislative agenda to highlight items that require legislative action during the Georgia Legislative Session. The City of Savannah Legislative Agenda serves as a roadmap for which items we encourage our State Legislative Delegation to work toward accomplishing each year. All items placed on the City’s Legislative Agenda must be approved by a majority vote of City Council. The City's Legislative Agenda is formulated through three primary inputs. First, is the priorities and feedback directly from City Council members. Next, is input from City staff regarding state laws or policies that impact City services or quality of life issues for Savannah residents, and third is consultation with Georgia Municipal Association about upcoming threats and opportunities.

Below is a timeline of the legislative agenda process.

  • September 20, 2022:     City Council receives memo requesting input on legislative priorities.
  • September 21, 2022:     City Council Workshop on the legislative agenda.

  • November 3, 2022:        City Council completes survey prioritizing legislative items.
  • November 10, 2022:      City Council considers approval of 2023 Legislative Agenda.
