Title 21. Motion to Procure Automatic Vehicle Locator Equipment and Service from CalAmp Corp. (Event No. 6161)
Strategic Priority Public Safety
Description Recommend approval to procure automatic vehicle locator (AVL) equipment, installation, and service from CalAmp Corporation in the amount of $25,380.00. Fleet additions were approved as part of the creation of the Savannah Police Department. In keeping with the existing contract and current operations, this purchase will allow for continuity of hardware and software currently in use and under contract with this vendor. AVL uses GPS technology to track and document vehicle activity and assist in officer deployment in daily and critical operations. Cal Amp, the current contract holder, has agreed to honor the original contract price to procure and install equipment and service for an additional 117 Ford Explorers, 20 unmarked vehicles, and four Police Cruiser vans. This is a sole source because CalAmp currently holds the contract with the City of Savannah. The contract was originally awarded under Event No. 4203 on September 29, 2016 and was recently renewed by City Council on March 15, 2018. The original contract was for equipment within the first year only, then ongoing support and maintenance for the equipment throughout subsequent contract terms.
