Title 12. Motion to Approve Hurricane Matthew Special Revenue Fund Supplemental Budget Appropriation
Strategic Priority Good Government
Description This ordinance recognizes and appropriates funding sources related to the City’s Hurricane Matthew Special Revenue Fund received from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and other sources that were used to fund the City’s cleanup and recovery efforts. During 2017, the City of Savannah expended nearly $17 million in federal aid, local matching funds and insurance reimbursements to fund cleanup and recovery from the destructive forces of Hurricane Matthew. This storm, which hit the City in October 2016, caused severe damage to the City's natural vegetation, utility operations, facilities and buildings. As a result, FEMA made available to the City federal aid in the form of grants to fund the recovery efforts. This ordinance formally appropriates these resources within the City's 2017 budget.
