Recommend approval to award an annual contract for ballistic helmets for the Savannah Police Department to Dana Safety Company in the estimated amount of $146,970.50.  The ballistic helmets will be used by the Savannah Police Department to reduce or stop penetration to the head from fired projectiles and shrapnel, while performing in high level threat environments.  Samples were received from the two lowest bidders for review by the Savannah Police Department.  The lowest bidder is not being recommended for award because their proposed helmet did not pass the Savannah Police Department’s wear test.  The wear test ensures the ballistic helmets meet the quality standards set forth by the department.

No DBE goal was established for this event due to due to absence of sub-contracting opportunities.

The contract term shall be from May 23, 2019 through December 31, 2019.
