Description

Petitioner, Mr. Naser Jaber, has requested that the City-owned property located at 0 Ambos Street (PIN 20100 07001A) be declared surplus and available for sale. This vacant lot is zoned RSF-6 (Residential Single Family) and located at the southeast corner of Martha Street and Ambos Street in the Sunset Park neighborhood. Measuring approximately 140 feet x 30 feet (or +/-0.16 acres), the property meets minimum building requirements in this zoning district.

Georgia Code 36-37-6 governs the disposition of real property by municipalities. Buildable lots must be offered for sale to the public, with due notice provided, and the sale awarded to the highest bidder or all bids rejected. Accordingly, if Council declares this parcel surplus, staff will advertise the sale and request bids via the Purchasing Department. Additionally, staff will procure a third-party appraisal to determine the minimum acceptable bid price. Bids less than this value will be rejected. If qualified bids are received, then the highest bid will be submitted to City Council for approval and award. The Buyer will be responsible for reimbursing the City for the cost of the appraisal and pay all closing costs, including archaeological assessment.

Development Services, Stormwater, Water Sewer Planning & Engineering, Park & Tree, Planning and Urban Design, Traffic Engineering, and Real Estate Services have reviewed the petition and recommend approval to proceed.
